Kurdish Refugees From Syria

A medical doctor, a lawyer, a foreign trade manager…Young and old, Kurdish refugees in Turkey from North Syria narrate their escape stories from persecution and atrocities of PYD/YPG.

THE CHALLENGE

In the first months of the Syrian war, when the Syrian army withdrew from the north of Syria , YPG dominated the area without fighting. The cities on the border of Turkey, Afrin, Kobane and government buildings in Qamishli were equipped with the PYD flags. Since 2013, the YPG has expanded its dominance in the area with armed struggle.
On October 9, 2019, Turkish Army started an operation to destroy the corridors of terror and to establish peace and harmony in the region. When the Peace Pinar Operation started, the Western media and political elite criticized the operation heavily, stating that Kurdish people of Syria are rightful in their rule.

The PYD / YPG administration, which ruled illegitimately in Syria, was introduced as Kurdish nationalism and the struggle to liberate Syria, yet what happened behind the scenes in this process is quite contrary to the so to say nationalism and fight for freedom.

The atrocities inflicted on Syrian Kurds, who have witnessed this persecution, the organic ties between the PKK and the PYD / YPG, have been brought to daylight in interviews with high-profile Syrian Kurds who escaped to Turkey and saved their lives.
